Actually, the game was the first to say goodbye when the Rags put him on waivers and then no one claimed him. More of like a "check ya later" than a goodbye.

He was a great goalie. He can leave with his head held high. I'll always remember how he almost single-handedly took out the Habs in the conference finals. Boy did he make me swear.

I wonder if Marty is still willing to throw out that first pitch next spring for TCBA. Its always good seeing him out at the ball games.

Classy player, but does anyone else think the Hertl goal was the blatant reason he was waived?

No he was just on our hockey hotline radio show. He has been thinking about it since the lock out.

I had no idea he was involved with them. I groom the diamonds in the summer sometimes for tournaments.

His kids play(ed), so he would throw out the first pitch a few years back. They usually have a Sabre throw out a pitch since so many live out there and their kids play.

With the Flyers, in 2008. Except it wasn't conference finals. The Flyers beat Washington in 7 in the first round and the Flyers were huge underdogs to MTL in the quarter finals. But with the play of Biron, combined with timely scoring (tons of it) and breakdowns by the Habs, the Flyers dismantled them in 5. Only thing keeping it from a sweep was a late 3rd period gift of a penalty and corresponding PP goal for the Habs in game 1, which they won in OT. Flyers cleaned them up over the next 4. Biron played lights out.

Was always a big fan of his, and also heard great things from other Sabres employees who had dealings with him over the years.

Drew Stafford on the top line, Grigs on the bottom. Makes sense.
